        History

        Ernest Corbett, 1893-1988, was born in England, came to Alberta in 1911, and joined the Canadian Pacific Railway's (CPR) land branch as a draftsman. He farmed from 1918 to 1922, then rejoined the CPR as an irrigation ditchrider in the Western Section. He was transferred to the land department in Calgary in 1930, and was promoted to general superintendent in 1949. He retired in 1957. He and his wife, Mabel, had five children, Helen, Eileen, Albert, Betty and Fred.
