      Robert Dickson "Bob" Clarke, 1882-ca. 1975, was born in Ireland. He came to Alberta, and in 1912-1913 worked as a cleaner at Heningsen Dye Works in Edmonton. He enlisted in the 9th Battalion in September 1914 at Valcartier, Quebec, and served in the 4th Canadian Infantry Battalion. He was clerk and accountant with the Soldier Settlement Board, Calgary Department from 1922-1946. In 1925 he married Evelyn Aleta Mercer, 1898-ca. 1965, who was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, USA, and grew up in Ontario. They had at least one child, Nora, 1926- . Robert retired in 1948-1949 although he was an accountant for Wm. E. Allen in 1955.
