Biographical history
Charles Swann "Charlie" Dunkley, ca. 1920-2001, was born in Edmonton, and graduated as a mining engineer from the University of Alberta in 1942. He began his career in the oil industry with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Conservation Board in Turner Valley that same year. He worked for Chevron from 1944-1952, and became a production engineer for Dome Petroleum in 1952. In May 1958 he became senior vice-president at Dome, a position he held until his retirement in 1982. He and his wife, Rose, retired to the Priddis area ca. 1983. They had four children: Charles Barry, Gordon Merle, Brenda Lorraine (Rutherglen) and Roger David.

The fonds consists of records of Dome Petroleum committees (1957-1979): gas and operating, policy, marketing, exploration, management, and Canmar committees; Dome senior management minutes (1973-1974); Dome's financial planning department records (1973-1979): memos and correspondence, minutes, budgets, and forecasts; Dome exploration and development files (1950s-1970s): proposals, reserve data, drilling summaries and memos; and Dome staff development records (1958-1983): employee manual, program outlines, job descriptions, salary surveys and budgets, and performance evaluations. Includes other Dome records: memos (1956-1976), reference publications and files, speeches (1975), annual report (1970), reports (1967-1979), correspondence (1970-1983), and maps of project areas (1969-1970).
