Biographical history
Charles Lloyd Nowlin, 1903-1984, was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, USA and came with his family to the Claresholm district of Alberta in 1908. In 1927 he was employed by the Alberta Wheat Pool and after serving as agent at Bulwark, Fort Saskatchewan, Barons, Creston, Hanna and Camrose, he retired in 1968 as operations manager in Calgary. He then wrote articles for a variety of western and historical magazines. He and his wife, Bernice, had two children, Charles and Jacqueline (Dunckel).

Scope and content
The fonds consists of photographs of agricultural activities in the Claresholm area, dust storm near Barons, and the Nowlin family; and miscellaneous photographs. Includes published articles on life in the early west and Emilio Picariello; and financial records of the Lang Gum store in Retlaw, near Barons, Alberta (1930).
