Biographical history

Charles H. Griffith, 1884-1970, was born in Monmouth, Wales, and moved to the Nightingale district near Strathmore, Alberta with his brothers, Glyn and Syd, in 1910. In 1915 the brothers sold their farm, and Charles moved to the Cariboo district of British Columbia. He then settled at Red Deer Lake, Alberta ca. 1918. In 1923 he married Amy Elliott, 1892-1962, and they had two children, James H. and Betty (Middleton). He then worked as a foreman on the EP and Minto (Two Dot) ranches. In 1926 he moved to Harmattan to look after a ranch owned by Frank Ingham, and in 1930 Charles and the family settled near Priddis, Alberta where he was very active in the community.
