Biographical history

Charles D.T. Becher, 1863-1911, was born in Ireland. He came to Canada in 1885 to work for the Hudson's Bay Company. From 1887 to 1894 he was in charge of the Edmonton store. He married Florence May Casey, ?-1942, of Montana, USA in 1894. He managed the HBC stores in Morden, Manitoba and Yorkton, Saskatchewan before settling in Fort Macleod, Alberta in 1901, where he managed the HBC store and later ran a real estate firm with R.C. Mathews. The Bechers had two daughters, Lillian (Haines) and Georgie (Wilson).
