Chantal Bowen was a producer for French/English Programs of le programme fédéral des femmes/ Federal Women Film Program of the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), from 1988 to 1997 during which she produced 26 documentaries in French and English of which 17 received national and international awards. Between 1983 and 1986 she worked as as post production coordinator for Studio D and le programme fédéral des femmes/ Federal Women Film Program. Between 1983 and 1996, Chantal Bowen has also held producer and researcher positions in Studio Jeunesse and the Archives of the NFB. In the 1970s, she studied cinematography at Queen's University in Kingston Ontario, and at Concordia University in Montreal.
