        History

        Robert Carter was born 29 May 1883 in Blackburn England. He took part in the Boer War under the British Border Regiment, serving from January 7 1902 until his discharge January 6 1914. After his discharge he moved to Canada and quickly enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force during WWI where he served with the 50th and then the 49th battalion, CEF. During his service Robert Carter lost an eye. He was a member of the South African Veteran’s Association, the Army, Navy and Air Force Veteran’s Association, and the Canadian legion. After his many years of service Robert Carter passed away at the age of 71 April 13, 1955 in Calgary.
