Carlo Carbone holds a master’s degree in architecture and planning from the Université de Montréal (1998). He is associate professor of Environmental Design at the École de design of the Université du Québec à Montréal. His research focuses on the history of prefabrication, the links between industrialization and modern building culture, and the current state of industrialized building systems and their potential for customization. He leads students in the design research laboratory Studio Cube of the École de design at UQAM. His research on Canadian architecture includes a special issue of ARQ on Henri Brillon (2017) and an ongoing study of Guy Gérin-Lajoie’s contributions to Canadian arctic building. Member of the l’Ordre des architects du Québec, Carbone has been a practicing architect in Montreal since 1998.
