      History

      John Allan "Jack" Cameron, 1919-1978, was born in Winnipeg. He served in the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps 4, Canadian Armoured Division in the Second World War in the UK and Europe. He returned to reserve status as a major in 1946 and retired from the army with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel. He moved to Calgary, Alberta from Winnipeg in 1954 and was the manager of the crude oil division of Husky Oil and Refining until 1957. Beginning in that year until 1962 he was general manager and director of Prairie Pipe Manufacturing in Regina. In 1974 he returned to Calgary and was president of Merland Explorations Ltd. Following this he was involved in private investment in the Calgary oil and gas industry. He and his wife, Anne E., had no children.
