Robert Arthur Brown, Jr., 1914-1972, was born in Calgary, and was educated in Calgary schools, the University School, Victoria, British Columbia, and the University of Alberta. He joined his father's oil company, Turner Valley Royalties, Ltd. in 1936 and upon the death of his father in 1948 took over the family interests. He took over Home Oil Company in 1952 and developed it into a major Canadian exploration firm. He and his wife, Genevieve, had three daughters, Pamela Mary (Sine), Lois Lorraine, and Carolyn Genevieve. Brown received an honorary doctroate from the University of Calgary in 1968 and was inducted into the Canadian Petroleum Hall of Fame in 2000. For further information see "R.A.
