      History

      William Fred "Lefty" Brown, 1893-1983, was born in Indiana, USA and moved to Irricana, Alberta in 1917. He married Anna E. Wilson in 1921 and they had three children, Kenneth Earle, Raymond Russel and Reta Irene (Kennedy). He pitched his first baseball game in Beiseker in 1918 and remained active in the game until the 1940s. He played for Rockyford, the Hillhurst Hustlers, and in the Western Canada League. He farmed at Irricana until 1953 when he retired to Calgary. After Anna died in 1971 he married Mrs. Dorothy Beattie in 1973.
