        History

        Harold Emory Bronson was born on a family farm in Cherhill, Alberta. From 1941 to 1945 he served as a navigator in the RCAF, flying 36 missions in Lancaster bombers over occupied Europe. He later attended the University of Alberta and received a BA, BComm, and MA before teaching elementary school briefly in Edmonton. He received his PhD in Political Science from the University of Saskatchewan in 1965 and taught in the faculty of Political Science and Economics until retiring in 1984. Bronson was an active supporter of farm marketing boards and published the "Independence News," a pro-sovereignty newsletter, for 20 years; he was a CCF candidate in the Alberta Election following WWII and travelled internationally to observe political and economic conditions.
