        History

        David Bromige was born in London, England in 1933 and worked as a cowman in dairy farms in England, Sweden and Canada, before teaching school in British Columbia in the late 1950s. Bromige graduated with a BA (Hon) from the University of British Columbia in 1962 and an MA from the University of Californa, Berkeley in 1964.

        While in British Columbia, Bromige became a member of the TISH group of Canadian West Coast poets, and was also involved with Imago, a long-form poetry journal that published from 1964-1974. Bromige moved to California in the early 1960s, taught at University of California, Berkeley, California College of Arts and Crafts, and eventually retired as Professor Emeritus from Sonoma State University.

        Bromige died in Sebastopol, California in 2009 at the age of 75.
