        History

        William Archibald Branton, 1887-1976, was born in Spalding, England and came to Calgary, Alberta in 1905. He studied at Brandon College from 1908 to 1910, then joined the Calgary School Board in 1911. In 1920 he became building superintendent and architect, a post he held for 34 years. He and his wife had two children, William Raymond, 1920-2004, and Mary (Richmond). Branton Junior High school in north-west Calgary was named after him in 1956.
