Biographical history

William Hastie "Billy" Cochrane, 1868-1942, was born in Galashiels, Scotland, and served in the South African War in the Scottish Yeomanry. He moved to Millarville, Alberta in 1902 and bred race horses. He married Helen Rankin and they had three children, Elan, Kenneth and Elspeth. The Cochranes retired to Vancouver Island, British Columbia in 1918.
