Paul Bessel, 1905-[after 1973], was born in Langenburg, Saskatchewan. He and his brother, William, 1895-?, farmed in Saskatchewan until 1922 when they sold out. Paul worked as a farm labourer in Saskatchewan until he moved to Nanton, Alberta in 1928. He farmed from then until 1943, when he moved into town and worked as a carpenter. He moved to Calgary and worked as a carpenter from 1956 to 1958, then moved to Strathmore where he farmed for another five years. He returned briefly to Calgary, then settled once more in Nanton, where he worked again as a carpenter until he retired due to poor health. In 1973 he was president of the Nanton Friendship Centre.
