Biographical history
Benjamin Bishop, 1896-1973, was born in Malmesbury, Wiltshire, England and came to Canada in August, 1923. After working on various southern Alberta farms and ranches he moved to Calgary in 1927. He worked for many years at the Bowness Golf Course, followed by ranch work at the Powlesland ranch near Cochrane. He retired to Black Diamond, Alberta. His brother Edwin Arthur "Ted" Bishop, 1907-1989, also came to Canada in 1923 and after several years in Saskatchewan, also moved to Calgary. In 1930 he too began work at the Bowness Golf Course. He and his wife had one daughter Mary (Adair).
