        Jan Adam Bednarski, 1911-1989, was born in Poland. He served in the Polish Army under British command throughout the Second World War. Bednarski was wounded nine times and lost an arm in the Italian campaign. He married Hanna Jadwiga Bokowska, 1913- in London in 1950 and they emigrated to Canada in 1952 and settled in Edmonton, Alberta. Jan worked in the construction industry and Hanna as a librarian at the University of Alberta. They had two sons, Jan, 1953- , and Andrew, 1955- .
