      History

      Born on Nov.22, 1895 at Montreal, Quebec and is married to Esther Barnetson. He came west in 1912 to Calgary and was enlisted on Aug. 6, 1915 at Calgary, Alberta then served overseas in France during World War I, with the 50th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force and after the war, he returned to Calgary and had resided in Calgary since. Mr. Barnetson was employed with the Federal Government, Department of Northern Affairs and National Resources for 40 years, retiring in 1961. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Alberta No. 1) Branch, also a member and past Secretary Treasurer of the 50/14 Battalion and a member of The Professional Institute of Public Service of Canada.
