        History

Morris Millington Averill, 1887-1970, was born in England. He emigrated to Alberta in late 1910, and settled on a farm near Cochrane shortly after. In 1915 he married Marjorie Pheysey, 1893-1981, who had followed him from England. As well as run the farm, Morris did road construction and maintenance for the provincial Public Works Department. The Averills returned to England in 1921 and settled first in Worcestershire, and later in Cornwall. Two of their three children were born in Canada.
