Biographical history

Arthur Ion, 1867-, was born in England and came to Quebec at an early age. He worked on a dairy farm there, then moved to the Rainy River district of Ontario. In 1900 he married his first wife, Emma, and they had two children, Albert and Mary. Following Emma's death he married Mary and they also had two children, William and Dorothy. In 1909 the family settled in Marquis, Saskatchewan and in 1912 they moved to the British block area of southeastern Alberta, north of Alderson (originally called Carlstadt), near Hoskin post office. When the military took over the block in 1941 the family moved to Crescent Heights, Alberta.
