        Frank Wesley Anderson, 1919-2008, was born in Brandon, Manitoba and earned his BA at the University of Saskatchewan. He did a Masters degree in social work at the University of Toronto. He taught social work at Mount Royal College in Calgary, Alberta for many years and was a member of the National Parole Board. His hobby was researching and writing local history and in 1961 he began to publish a series of historical booklets on western Canadian topics under the title "Frontier Books". His publishing company was called Frontiers Unlimited and the printing was done by the High River Times. Between 1961 and 1974 he published over thirty books, many dealing with the history of crime. He also contributed to a number of publications by Heritage House in Surrey, British Columbia and published other titles after moving to Saskatchewan. In 1998 the University of Ottawa created the Frank W. Anderson Archives of Criminology in honour of his work in legal history.
