Biographical history
Alfred Yarrow, 1924- , was born in London, England, the son of a Jewish Canadian, Philip Yarmarko, 1900-1954, and Leah, a Polish immigrant. His father, who had qualified as a physician at Middlesex Hospital in London, returned to Canada in 1932 to set up a medical practice in Rockyford, Alberta. The family joined him in January 1933, but due to poor economic conditions they returned to London in 1935. Alfred later graduated in medicine at Edinburgh University. He retired to Israel in 1984 to be near his married daughter.
