History
In 1960 they moved to Calgary where Ian joined the University's English Department. Over the course of a long and varied teaching career, he would serve as Department Chair and editor of the journal, Ariel. He retired in 1997.
Ian was a prairie poet whose works were widely published and broadcast: Songs from the Star Motel (1987) and The Nomadic Marchesa (2003) amongst them. He edited numerous volumes including the urban anthology, Glass Canyons (1985), and a family memoir, As I Remember Them (2002). Ian served on the boards of Dandelion and Prairie Forum, and on the executives of the League of Canadian Poets and The Writers Guild of Alberta.
