Biographical history

Ada Beaton was a Calgary, Alberta writer, whose articles were published in various Canadian newspapers. She later married Albert T. Ryan and moved to British Columbia.

The fonds consists of historical articles written by Beaton about these Calgary pioneers and topics: C.J. Duggan, Alfred S. McKay, buffalo bones, George Elliott, Henry La Riviere, Robert Barker, John Herron, Father Leon Joseph Desire Doucet, Charlie Youan, J.H. Turner, John Franklin, Herb Millar, Isaac Ellwood, and Amos Wilkins. Includes a letter written to Ada by a daughter of Howard Pratt, telling of people and places in downtown Calgary. Also includes photographs of early Calgary.
