Name of creator
William Thomas Knights, 1894-1987, was born in London, England, came to Canada in 1905 and settled in Calgary, Alberta in 1909. He served in the Canadian Cycle Corps in First World War, and in 1919 joined his father, William George Knights, ?-1952, in establishing Knights Bindery Ltd. (later Knights Stationery and Printing Co.). He served as president and general manager until 1972 when the firm was dissolved. Knights was very involved in dramatic circles in Calgary. He was a Mason, Shriner and president of the Calgary Rotary Club. He married Freda O'Brien in 1921 and they had one daughter, Catherine "Kaye" (Grieve).

The fonds consists of autobiography (1977); miscellaneous company records; programs and newsclippings regarding dramatic events in Calgary (1929-1962); and photographs of Knights, Calgary and Knights Bindery Ltd. (1910-1976).
