Biographical history

William Fraser Talbot, 1889-1952, was born in Pictou, Nova Scotia and came to Alberta in the early 1920s. He was a carpenter and building contractor in Calgary and surrounding towns. In 1929 he married Anna Tressia Montgomery, 1903- ?, and they had three sons, David W., 1931- , Norman F., 1940- , and Stanley R., 1947- . Talbot's brother-in-law, Arnold Oscar Montgomery, 1915-1988, was born at Little Fish Lake, Alberta to parents Mark and Bertha Montgomery. He worked on his family's ranch as well as in rodeos. He was North American all-round champion at the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede in 1942-1943. An accident in 1945 incapacitated him for the remainder of his life.

The fonds consists of business records of William F. Talbot building contractors (Boxes 1 and 2); ranch papers of Mark Montgomery; ranch papers, personal correspondence, photographs and records relating to the estate of Arnold O. Montgomery; and family tree and history compiled for Montgomery Family Reunion in 1982 (Box 3). Also includes Montgomery family photo albums.
