Biographical history

William Arthur de la Poer Horsley Beresford was born in England and in 1903 came to southern Alberta to purchase the Bowness Ranch near Calgary. He enlarged the ranch house and operated a large shorthorn operation. He and his wife, Florence Miller, had two children, including Charles William Marcell de la Poer Horsley, 1902-?. He later sold the ranch and moved to Toronto.
