Name of creator
Wallace Mock Luthy, 1911-1996, was born in Cleveland, Ohio, USA and received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Ohio University in 1933. He later attended the University of Western Ontario and worked for Ashland Oil in Kentucky and Allied Oil and National Refining in Cleveland. Luthy came to Calgary, Alberta in 1955 to establish an Exploration and Producing Department for Canadian Oil Companies Ltd. He remained with Shell Canada after it acquired Canadian Oil until his retirement in 1974. Luthy then served on the Alberta Petroleum Marketing Commission until 1983. He and his wife Gretchen had two children, Elaine (Brennan) and Gary.
