Name of creator
This individual was born on August 27, 1898 in Wisconsin, USA. He enlisted with the Wisconsin National Guards Co. on April 28, 1917. After training, he shipped out to Europe aboard USS Covington. He served the entirety of the war and was discharged on March 27, 1919.
Material was held at one point by the Antique Boutique in Wisconsin then transferred to Gayle Evans of La Quinta California in 2000.

Scope and content
Consists of a 127 page typescript transcription of a WWI diary titled "The Day by Day Diary of a Machine Gunner". Holograph corrections and annotations appear throughout, possibly made by the diarist's son or daughter.
