Biographical history

Thomas Hoggan Mather, 1860-[after 1930], was born and educated in Glasgow, Scotland. He trained as a civil engineer and came to Canada in 1882 as a surveyor and engineer for the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR). Thomas worked all over Canada and was appointed as Chief of Party on the location surveys for the Calgary and Edmonton Railway. He married Isabella Layfield in 1890 and lived the latter part of his life in Syracuse, New York, USA as a railway engineer and commissioner of public works.
