Archief F0319 - The Buskins fonds

The theatre group, The Buskins, was formed in 1954 by Jo [Josephine Alice Carew Pilcher Cormack, 1928-2001] and David Cormack and Isabel Chapman Thomas. Their first play was produced in 1955. Productions were staged at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium after its opening in 1957. The Buskins also produced one-act plays, held theatre training programs, supported and fostered a teen-age group called the Harlequins, and were active members of the Calgary Allied Arts Council. After 1960 the group began to produce Christmas pantomimes and avant garde plays, as well as operate the Harlequin Theatre School. The Buskins' last play was presented in 1967.
