The family histories and photographs in this collection were gathered together by the Spruceview School Area Historical Society in southern Alberta for use in Grub-axe to Grain : A History of Craig, Dickson, Happy Hill, Heckla, Hola, Markerville, New Hill, North Raven, Raven, Red Raven, Rich Hill, Spruce View, Alberta / Spruceview : The Society, 1973. The area had been settled by Germans, Swedes, Icelanders and other northern Europeans.
