Biographical history
Hilda Anne Marie Smythe (née Lambert) was born in Terre Bonne, MI on May 15, 1889. She married Lorne Wentworth Smythe in 1909 and the couple settled in the village of Wierdale, Saskatchewan. Following the end of WWII, in which her son was killed in action, Smythe moved to Nelson, BC. She died July 24, 1979.

Lance Cpl. Lorne N. Smythe served overseas with the No. 5 Canadian Provost Corps during World War II. He died on December 17, 1944 of injuries received in action in Ravenna, Italy. His remains were buried in the Coriano Ridge (Italy) War Cemetery.
