Biographical history
Sidney Walpole Davis, 1872-1942, was born in Gloucester, England and came to Oxbow, Saskatchewan in 1890 with his brother, John. A year later Sidney joined the North-West Mounted Police (NWMP) and he was promoted to corporal and later sergeant. He served with the Mounties in the Lake Lindeman region of the Yukon. He bought a ranch near Peigan Creek (south of Seven Persons, Alberta), which he called the Manor Ranch. He married Margaret Cargill in 1911 and they had three sons, Ralph, 1911- , Arthur and Sandy, 1914- . He retired to Victoria, British Columbia. Walter Hanson, 1870-1948, had the Chinook Ranch near Pekisko, Alberta, and apparently had some connection with the Davis family.
