Biographical history
Peter Willoughby King, [1836 or 1840]-1920, was born in Scotland and came to Calgary, Alberta from Ontario in 1886. He was appointed as Sheriff of the Judicial District of Northern Alberta the next year and served in that position until 1905. He retired to his ranch near Calgary and lived there until shortly before his death. In his will he provided for the building of the Sheriff King Home which was completed in 1922.
