Biographical history
The Sheet Metal Workers Local 254, a trade union based in Calgary, Alberta, was in existence as early as 1911. It belonged to the Amalgamated Sheet Metal Workers International Alliance, later called the Sheet Metal Workers' International Association, which had locals in Canada and the USA. The Calgary local held meetings at the Calgary Labor Temple until at least 1949. As well as negotiating contracts for its members with the Calgary Sheet Metal Association, it operated an apprenticeship program for individuals learning the trade.
