Biographical history

S.G Pallesen was born in 1900 on July 15th and died in 1961. He was a corporal in the 1st Canadian Army 21st group as of 1943. He was likely part of the Army Photographic Interpretation Section that studied aerial reconnaissance photos and interpreted them. He received a certificate of recognition from Field Marshal Montgomery on the 31st of December 1944. At the end of the war Corporal Pallesen was acting sergeant and then was fully promoted in the spring of 1945 to sergeant.

Scope and content

Fonds consist predominantly of aerial photos depicting, primarily, northeastern France. Also includes photographs of family and friends of Corporal S.G. Pallesen, and a photocopied journal from 1943 and 1946. Fonds are divided into two series, one photographic and one textual.
