Biographical history

Alan "Dobby" Rhodes, Bernard "Bumpy" Rhodes, 1888-1935, and Gilbert "Dusty" Rhodes were born in England and served in the First World War. During the war they purchased shares in the Critchley Ranch in Grand Valley, near Cochrane, Alberta. After the war Dusty spent most of his time in British Columbia but Bumpy lived on the ranch which he named the Minehaha Ranch. In 1926 he married Cullette Weaver Gopel, ?-1951, and they adopted a son, David. The family moved to Victoria, British Columbia in 1930, but on the death of Bumpy they returned to the ranch. Cullette later moved to the United States with her son.
