        History

The Norseman Ski Club was organized in Calgary, Alberta in 1972 by a group of friends and acquaintances interested in cross-country skiing. The original owners of Calgary's Norseman Ski Shop, Ted and Lillian Ofstad, helped establish the club by demonstrating proper waxing and skiing techniques. The club was incorporated under the Societies Act in 1977 and at first the membership was limited to 100 families. This was later increased to 125 and then to 150.
