The University Women's Network met regularly to talk to one another, share mutual concerns, exchange information, and plan strategies. They organized social events and talks on pertinent topics. This group was for all women at the University of Calgary and existed from around 1990-1992.

The Network of Women Staff (NeWS) was launched in the fall of 1992 as an organization for University of Calgary women support staff. Their goals were to create a collective voice for women staff, bring concerns of women staff to the attention of the appropriate bodies, be a catalyst for change to benefit women staff on campus, provide opportunities for networking and socializing, reduce isolation of women staff, provide opportunities for personal development and growth, and to develop esteem, respect and recognition for the important contributions of women staff to the university.
