Timothy R. Morton was a coal miner in Pennsylvania, Kansas and Washington in the United States. He married Victoria and they had at least one son, Gordon S. Morton, ca. 1896-?. Gordon worked in the coal mines at Michel, British Columbia in the 1910s but the family moved to Calgary by the 1920s. Gordon and his wife had at least three daughters, Marjorie Ellen (McInnes), 1909-2004, Jeanette, and Edna (Leask).

The fonds consists of coal mining certificates and correspondence, bank pass book, insurance premium, receipt books, etc.; and postcard views of the Crowsnest Pass.
