In 1957 Milton M. Merrill, a Glenbow Archives staff member, was commissioned to compile biographical information about Mormon pioneers in southern Alberta. From then until 1960 he gathered biographies from more than ninety Mormon families, conducted nine recorded interviews, and arranged for Glenbow to borrow and microfilm a variety of family genealogies, scrapbooks and diaries. A small amount of additional material was added to the collection from 1961 to 1964 and 1988.
