Biographical history

Millard Choate Gandier, 1880-1972, was born in Cheddar, Ontario and educated as an Anglican minister. While a theology student he worked at the Anglican residential school at Battleford, Saskatchewan and once ordained was a teacher and principal at Old Sun Residential School on the Blackfoot reserve at Gleichen, Alberta. In 1911 Gandier married Margaret Frew, 1877-1950, of Guelph, Ontario and they had four children, Margaret Frew (McPherson), 1912-1999, Horace Matheson, 1914-2007, Thirza Mary Fay (Ecclestone), 1916-1997, and John Choate Carlyle, 1917-2000. About 1917 the family returned to Ontario where they served in parishes in many Ontario towns, first for the Anglican and later for the United Church.
