Name of creator
Frederick Stephen Mannix, 1881-1951, began a career in heavy construction in 1898 as a sub-contractor on a Canadian Pacific Railway project in Manitoba. He moved to Edmonton, Alberta in 1904 and Calgary, Alberta in 1917. His company, Mannix Company Ltd., built railways, highways, irrigation projects, airports, and dams. He and his wife, Byryid, had six children, Frederick Charles, 1913-1995, Eleanor, Alice (Kramer), Margaret, Florence, and Luella.
