        Isaac Kendall Kerr, 1839-1929, was born near Ottawa, and at an early age went into the logging business in Wisconsin, USA and later in Virginia, Minnesota, USA. In 1883 he investigated the logging opportunities west of Calgary, Alberta and on his return to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the Eau Claire and Bow River Lumber Company was established with Kerr as president. Peter Prince moved to Calgary as manager. Kerr was also interested in the Calgary Water Power company, Louis Petrie Co. Ltd., Calgary Motors Ltd., Calgary Iron Works Ltd. and the Calgary Milling Co. He moved to Calgary permanently in 1910. He married Clara Emma Seaman, 1852-1944, and they had two children, Isaac Kendall, Jr., 1883-1950, and Henry Halleck, 1887-1918.
