Biographical history

The Jewish Historical Committee of Calgary, Alberta collected records about the Jewish community in Calgary in the early 1970s. They also carried out interviews with a number of Jewish pioneers from the Calgary area.

The collection consists of recorded interviews and transcripts of some of the interviews with Nate Horodezky, Bella Singer, Curly Gurevitch, Becky Cohen, Hattie Joffe, Harry Woolfe, Bertha Segall, Bessie Diamond and Saul Isenstein; programs; biographical information and documents from Jewish personalities in the Calgary area; circulars from Jewish societies; and photographs of Calgary Jewish personalities, events and businesses. Includes records created by or about: B'nai Brith, Economic Patent Kettle Company, Spindel family, Charles Waterman, Switzer family, M.
