“Gag” law controversy.

Consists of protests by the National Citizens’ Coalition, and a lawsuit by Jim Hawkes against the Calgary Sun. The “Gag” law referred to section 259 of Bill C-114, the Elections Expenses Act, which limited third party advertising to either promote or oppose a registered political party or candidate.

“One Hundred Years of General Farm Organizations in Alberta”.

The series consists of the contents of numerous binders created by Eileen Nagel to document the members and activities of Alberta’s main agricultural organizations. The material includes programs, membership lists, newspaper clippings, photographs, journal artcles, lists of officials and directors, coverage of conventions, etc. Much of it has been annotated by Eileen with identifications and personal comments.

“Patients seen” calendars.

The series consists of desk calendars which record the names of patients seen every day, plus the amount charged by the doctors for their services. The calendars from 1924 to 1926 were used by John Giffen Sr., and the ones from 1928 to 1936 by John Giffen Jr. There is no calendar for 1927.

Series consists records related to the 100th issue of ARIEL (Volume 25, No. 4) including correspondence with contributors, edited copy, and printers proofs.
