Columns missing for May 21 and December 3; no column published February 5. Columns contain book reviews of John Edward Belliveau's The splendid life of Albert Smith and the women he left behind (March 19); George Jonas and Barbara Amiel's By persons unknown (June 11); Roger O'Toole's The precipitous path (July 16); William M. Baker's Timothy Warren Anglin, 1822-96 (September 10); Heather Robertson's A terrible beauty (October 29); and J. V. Andrew's Bilingual today, French tomorrow (November 5). Scrapbook also contains newsclippings of several letters to the editor from readers in response to columns, article mentioning A. Nowlan and miscellaneous news articles. Includes duplicates of several columns. Most newsclippings have only holograph annotations of dates of publication, which have not been verified. Missing manuscripts for several columns, as well as two manuscripts of columns previously published and filed under original date of publication. Columns contain book reviews of John Edward Belliveau's The splendid life of Albert Smith and the women he left behind (1977 March 19); George Jonas and Barbara Amiel's By persons unknown (1977 June 11); Roger O'Toole's The precipitous path (1977 July 16); William M. Baker's Timothy Warren Anglin, 1822-96 (1977 September 10); Heather Robertson's A terrible beauty (1977 October 29); J. V. Andrew's Bilingual today, French tomorrow (1977 November 5); R. G. Fragment of short story DC-8 on verso of one page. Manuscripts untitled and undated until June 1978 when A. Nowlan began including holograph annotations of date written; however, manuscripts continue to be filed by date of publication to maintain consistency with arrangement of earlier undated column manuscripts. Repository annotations of published title and date of publication included with each manuscript. Published titles of individual columns not indexed. The column Alden Nowlan reports published weekly in the Telegraph-Journal from October 1968 to June 1983.
